Your support will allow me to compete for Great Britain as part of a squad of six athletes at the Junior World Orienteering Championships

Goal

Just recently I achieved an overall Silver medal in Britain’s biggest international 4 day Orienteering event, the JK2015. As a result of my performance I have been selected to compete for Great Britain as part of a squad of six athletes at the Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) in July in Rauland, Norway. As the sport is currently low on funding, I am looking to raise sponsorship in the region of £1000-£5000 to support training camps to Norway, Sweden and Finland in preparation for JWOC 2015. The Athlete contribution is £1000 and this will cover the cost of Entries,Accreditation, Accommodation, Food, flights,Assembly Cost (travel to airport),Vehicle Hire and training.

Background

I left sixth form last year and I am now studying Chemical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. At my old school and sixth form I quickly became involved in the orienteering scene and started Orienteering in year 7 under the coaching and guidance of out Coach Miss Evans. Our Boys team went on to win the Team Gold every year from year 7 to year 13 at the British Schools Orienteering Champs. I was British Schools individual Champion twice in this time and was part of the team squad which was taken to the World School Orienteering in Italy and Portugal where we achieved team Bronze. My hard work continued to pay off for when I was selected for the British Junior squad in 2012 and went on to compete at the European Youth Championships in France 2012 and Macedonia 2014. Where my best result was 20th in the Long distance in Macedonia, which was one of best British Results in the past 10 years in the M18Elite category. Currently I race for Lakeland Orienteering Club and the Edinburgh Universities Performance team and compete internationally for the Swedish, Stockholm based team ‘OK Ravinen’.

The Future
