"everybody's kindness has overwhelmed me so so much and I hope I can do everyone proud"

Thank you to all that have donated to help me achieve my target.

Talent Backer has helped me achieve things that I never dreamed would happen. I get to achieve what so many other athletes only dream about.

Everybody's kindness has overwhelmed me so so much and I hope I can do everyone proud

With the money raised I intend to use the funds to pay for travel and race entries as well as my GB kit.

Unfortunately I have not always been into sports and more specifically Triathlon and Duathlon. Just under 3 years ago I was an overweight man who enjoyed drinking and fishing but after a visit to the doctors I was sent for a camera down my throat and was diagnosed with a pre-cancerous condition called Barrats Disease. After a good talking to from the doctor, I decided to lose some weight and start exercise and follow a careful diet to avoid my condition getting any worse. This is where Triathlon found my life and since my first race I have never looked back.

Driven by the fear of turning my condition worse I have trained like a mad man to the point where I have become rather good at it, so much so that I have qualified to represent Great Britain, three times.

Current Position

Last year I was fortunate enough to represent Great Britain In the European Duathlon Championships In Holland and so was my brother-in-law. We managed to fund ourselves by putting on a local music gig to drum up support (no pun intended).

This year it is just too hard to do as I am on my own. I would like to personally fund the races myself but having to support a young family and a stay at home mum the money just isn't available to do so.

The Future

My long term goal is to try and qualify for Great Britain as many times as possible. The feeling you get whilst wearing your strip is like no other.

I do have long term funding plans in motion as myself and my brother-in-law have set up our own Triathlon Club in our area where we have obtained our coaching badges and currently have 25 athletes that we train 4 times a week. We have also got in place 3 races to raise funds for the club and, more importantly, our athletes development including a funding scheme for Great Britain age group athletes.

My achievements to date are:-

Qualified for European Duathlon Championships.

Qualified for European Cross Triathlon Championships.

Qualified for World Duathlon Championships.

Obtained my coaching badges.

Started our own Triathlon Club.

Obtained my refereeing qualifications.

2 x appearances on Radio Humberside.

2 x appearances in the Hull Daily Mail

1 x appearance in Triathlon 220 Magazine.

1 x appearance in a online e-magazine

Raising the funds to represent Great Britain again would be a dream come true. It would mean so much not only to me but to raise the profile of the club and to all the budding athletes that come so they have somebody to look up to and to realise they can achieve anything if they put their mind to it.
